This stunning late Victorian-Edwardian antique jardiniere is the result of Eleanor Tosen, a senior assistant and decorator at the Doulton Lambeth factory from 1885-1920. The “ttt” stamp on the bottom is her personal monogram allowing for this identification and date.
The background texture on this piece is called “slaters” and is made by pressing lace into wet clay. The artist then painstakingly followed every valley with a bronze colored paint before beautifully applying her floral and foliage pieces in what we now call a southwestern color motif.
The top rim has a flower stamp art that continues all the way around.
This piece is in excellent condition and looking for a place to call home!
