Dramatic black silk velvet 1980scocktail dress 10Regina Kravitz NWOT
Sculpturalvintage cocktail or dinner dress by Regina Kravitz. This dress oozes film noir drama.
Sumptuous puresilk velvet in deep, rich black. Architectural padded shoulders with much structure and shaping. Luxe pearl buttons havea crystal halo. They are much more lustrous and sparkly than the photo! I will try to get a better pic. Gracefully curved longbatwing sleeves taper down to slim wrists. The batwing sleeves drape in back, which along with the sort of cartridge pleating detailacross the back shoulder yoke, gives acape or cloak effect in back. Slim sheath skirt. The dress is intricately cut and seamed to accentuate curves. With the architecture and flowing drapery, thewearer becomes a moving sculpture.
Dropped waistline is taped inside for stability. Four-inch kick slit in back. Unlined, so you can feel the silk on your skin. All construction and seaminginside is deftly finished to avoid bulk, and keep this dress sleek and flowing like liquid silk over the body.
Vintage 1980s. Regina Kravitz was known for elegant, flattering dresses with flair,in luxurious fabrics. Noevidence of it ever having been worn. I bought it years ago as new, and never wore it, Listed here as New without Tags.
