Dry rot Vintage Misfits Martians T-Shirt Misfits Invade America 1998 L Read For Sale

PLEASE READ ENTIRELY BEFORE PURCHASING — PREMIUM STAGE 1 ARCHIVAL DISPLAY PIECEUp for sale is an incredibly rare, visually flawless 1998 Misfits "Mars Attacks" Limited Tour T-Shirt. This is a legendary piece of punk history featuring iconic artwork by horror-punk illustrator Ed Repka, printed under official license to Souls Ablaze on a vintage "Stedman by Hanes" blank. This specific version features the highly sought-after "Misfits Invade America In 1998" tour graphic on the back.VISUAL CONDITION: FACTORY MINT (DEADSTOCK)Visually, this shirt is a museum-grade masterpiece. It has spent nearly 30 years sitting flat and folded in a storage archive, completely untouched by sunlight or laundry machines. The heavy plastisol screen print ink is incredibly thick, vibrant, and solid with zero fading, zero cracking, and zero peeling. The neck tags are perfectly crisp, white, and unfrayed. It features period-correct, robust double-stitching on the sleeves and bottom hem.FABRIC CONDITION: STAGE 1 (EARLY DETECTION) DRY ROTBecause of the unstable black sulfur-based dyes utilized during the late 1990s manufacturing boom, the cotton fibers have begun to oxidize. This shirt is in the very earliest, beginning stages of dry rot.The fabric STILL has structural integrity. It does NOT flake, it does NOT turn to dust when handled, and it holds its shape perfectly when shaken.I performed a small, controlled tug test on the inner bottom fold of the hem. The fabric only gave way under deliberate, intentional pressure. The test area was kept extremely small on the inside hem fold so it does not affect the front/back display or the main body of the shirt.⚠️ CRITICAL WARNING: DO NOT WASH / DO NOT WEAR ⚠️Because this shirt has early-stage dry rot, you cannot wear it, and you cannot put it in a washing machine or dryer. Standard mechanical laundry cycles or the physical stretching of wearing the garment will cause the weakened cotton to fail. It is sold strictly AS-IS for:Professional Restoration: This is a prime candidate for a vintage dealer or archivist who knows how to use specialized alkaline/enzyme baths to neutralize and stabilize Stage 1 deadstock textiles.Museum Display: Framing it behind UV-protective glass as ultimate punk rock wall art for a studio or game room.Battle Jacket/Vests: Carefully cutting out the immaculate, pristine Ed Repka front or back graphics to use as an authentic 90s back-patch.This is a rare opportunity to own a visually perfect 1998 tour grail in its early, manageable stage. Selling strictly AS-IS with no returns or refunds.

The fabric STILL has structural integrity. It does NOT flake, it does NOT turn to dust when handled, and it holds its shape perfectly when shaken.Tug Tested for Authenticity: I performed a small, controlled tug test on the inner bottom fold of the hem. Because I couldn't believe what I was seeing and hoped I was incorrect, I tested it a second time. There are two very small, clean tears from these tests. They are located completely off to the side of the shirt on the inside hem fold. They are small, tucked away, and entirely hidden from the front or back display. See pictures for exact details.
