This piece is an abstract form in the manner of legendary mid century sculptor
Henry Moore. This piece is multi-faceted, uses space in a manner
which is compelling and invites the eye to explore the many layers
and paths the sculpture takes. This type of abstraction came into vogue in the late forties.
Each period has certain design aesthetics which branch up in architecture,
painting, sculpture and music. This work defies nature and yet simultaneously
rejects symmetry and linear form. It is caught in a world only the artist
can create and this type of sculpture would let the viewers\' minds
go to work and find meaning in the form.
This sculpture appeals to the eye and provides
artistic food for an inquisitive mind.In the mid century period, there was a greater appreciation of modern art
in the upper echelons of society. Doctors, lawyers and captains of industry
invested in art and acquired collections that appealed to their
senses and used them to adorn their living spaces. It was a wonderful
time to be alive and be a part of this rediscovering of art
and pushing past convention. Artists and their patrons found new freedom
in abstract forms - which reflected the journey of the mind.
