Scene from the Steeplechase: The Fallen Jockey was originally painted in 1866 and subsequently reworked by Degas in 1880–81 and again around 1897. Galloping racehorses cross the composition above a fallen jockey lying on the ground, combining Degas\'s early interest in equestrian subjects with the representation of rapid movement.
