Turgut Alpwas one of the warriors ofErtuğrul Gazi(father ofOsman I) and theOttoman Empire.Later, he became a military commander of theOttoman Empireafter its establishment.He was also a close friend ofErtuğrul Gaziand his sonOsman Gazi. He even servedOrhan Gazi, son of Osman Gazi during his lifetime.
During the earlyOttoman Conquestsin the reign ofOsman I, Turgut Alp was sent toAngelacoma(present-dayİnegöl) and he conquered the area.This area consisting some villages, was given to him byOsman Iand his territory was calledTurgut-ili (Land of Turgut).He was also withOrhan Gaziduring theconquest of Bursa(1326).
He died at the age of about 125 years.His tomb is located in the cemetery ofTurgutalp(Genci) village,İnegöl, Turkey.The grave outside the Ertugrul Ghazi's mausoleum is an honorary grave, not the real burial place. He became a martyr in a battle fighting with Osman Gazi's son Orhan Gazi.
