The Great Olympic Moments campaign was introduced in conjunction with the 1972 Olympic era and centered around a collectible medal program produced by the Franklin Mint. Dealer kits such as this were distributed to businesses and promotional partners to coordinate advertising, merchandising, local events, media campaigns, and consumer participation programs.
While the medals themselves were produced in large numbers, the supporting dealer literature, planning guides, order forms, and marketing packets were generally considered disposable business materials and were often discarded after the promotion concluded. As a result, complete promotional kits are significantly scarcer than the medals they supported.
