H. Hargrove “Winter Farm” Original Oil Painting – 1977 – Signed – COA
Original H. Hargrove oil painting titled “Winter Farm,” dating to 1977 and accompanied by its original Robert Sills Gallery documentation.
This classic winter farm scene features a vivid red barn, silo, weathered fencing and bare tree set against a snow-covered rural landscape. Hargrove’s fine dark linework and restrained palette of earthy browns, greens and winter blue-grays give the small painting wonderful detail and character.
The painting is signed Hargrove at the lower left.
Original Documentation
Included with the painting is a Robert Sills Gallery, Inc. Certificate of Authenticity identifying:
Artist: Hargrove
Title: Winter Farm
Medium: Original Oil
Registration Number: 7-11938
Also included is accompanying Robert Sills Gallery paperwork dated June 25, 1977. The reverse of the canvas bears a faint Hargrove/1977 marking.
Size & Presentation
Painting: approximately 8” x 10”
Overall framed size: approximately 16.25” x 18.25”
The painting is presented in a substantial vintage wood frame with a linen liner and narrow inner wood filet. The warm, deliberately aged/distressed finish works beautifully with the rustic farm subject and gives this relatively small painting considerable presence on the wall.
Condition
Painting presents very well for its age. The vintage frame has surface wear, marks, finish variation and distressed areas consistent with age and its intentionally antiqued appearance. The frame has been gently cleaned but not refinished, preserving its original character.
Please review all photographs carefully as they are an important part of the condition description.
The original Certificate of Authenticity and gallery paperwork shown are included with the painting.
A particularly appealing documented H. Hargrove original from the 1970s, combining a classic American winter-farm subject with its vintage frame and surviving gallery provenance.
