⭐ Struck at Tiberias on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee under Emperor Hadrian, this provincial bronze comes from the very city named in John 6:23 — where boats launched to carry the crowd back across the lake after the feeding of the 5,000. Tiberias was founded around AD 20 by Herod Antipas and named for the Roman emperor Tiberius. By Hadrian’s reign it carried the honorific “Claudiopolis,” granted under Claudius. This coin was struck within a generation of Christ’s ministry along that very shoreline.
