Vintage wooden gavel made from material removed from the White House during the major Truman-era renovation.
The attached metal plaque reads:
“ORIGINAL WHITE HOUSE MATERIAL REMOVED IN 1950”
and features the Presidential Seal.
During President Harry S. Truman’s administration, the White House underwent an extensive structural renovation. Salvaged materials from the building were later used to create commemorative souvenirs and presentation pieces, including wooden gavels.
