An extensive mid-19th-century history of Connecticut covering the colonial period, Revolutionary era, political and religious history, prominent Connecticut figures, and the formation of the state and its government.
The volumes include engraved portrait illustrations of important historical figures, with examples shown in the photographs including Roger Sherman, Oliver Ellsworth, John Cotton Smith, and Samuel Seabury. Volume II also contains an appendix including the Roll of Delegates to the Connecticut convention that ratified the Constitution of the United States.
Both volumes retain their decorative period cloth bindings with embossed designs and gilt decoration.
Condition: Antique condition with exterior wear and foxing as described above. Foxing varies considerably, with many text leaves considerably cleaner than some of the portrait plates and adjacent pages. Please see photographs for the best representation of condition.
