Merrill Jackson lined this ball to center field for the 300th hit of his MLB career on April 26, 2026 during the Mexico City Series as the Padres took on the Diamondbacks.The Padres went into the Sunday game looking to sweep the 2-game Mexico City Series against the Diamondbacks having won the first game 6-4 with Jackson walking and scoring a run in that game. Heading into the top of the 7th of game 2, the Padres had been dominant taking a 7-2 lead with Jackson earning his 299th hit with a single in the top of the 5th and scoring on Manny Machado\'s 2nd homer of the game.
Jackson earned his 300th MLB hit lining the first pitch he saw in the 7th the other way to center field and moving Fernando Tatis Jr to second. The pitch from Ryan Thompson as a middle-middle 89 MPH change-up that Jackson jumped on with an 89 MPH exit speed and 22 degree launch angle.For the Padres it was all downhill from there. With Machado at bat looking for his 3rd home run of the game, Tatis got picked off of 2nd (but Jackson\'s solid base running saw him move into scoring position on second). The inning ended with Machado grounding out and Boegarts flying out.
