Japanese Hagi Ware Porcelain Sake Cup 1.8inch Guinomi Sakazuki By Ohono ZuifuMA903
Description
This is a Japanese Hagi-yaki (Hagi ware) guinomi sake cup hand crafted by Ohno Zuifu (大野瑞峰), complete with its original signed wooden box, cloth, and biography leaflet. Hagi ware, originating in Yamaguchi Prefecture, is renowned for its soft clay texture and subtle glaze that changes character over time with use — a concept deeply connected to the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi (beauty in imperfection). This piece displays a natural, refined glaze with a smooth surface and gentle tonal gradation, embodying the warmth and simplicity typical of Hagi pottery. The compact form sits comfortably in the hand, ideal for savoring sake while appreciating its tactile charm. Crafted during the Showa period, it reflects both the continuity of Hagi tradition and Ohno Zuifu’s individual artistry. Accompanied by its original signed box and accessories, this cup is not only functional but also a collectible item for enthusiasts of Japanese pottery and tea or sake culture.
