The piece has a hinged domed lid, long decorated curved spout, large riveted handle assembly and separately constructed base.An interesting feature is the bottom: a magnet adheres to the central/base area but does not adhere to the remainder of the vessel, indicating a ferrous metal component in the bottom construction. There also appears to be a heavily worn marking or possible inscription on the underside. Image recognition has suggested that it may read “Iran,” but this has not been independently confirmed, so it is being sold without a definitive maker, country or date attribution. The decorative style and form are associated with Islamic/Middle Eastern metalwork traditions, including Persian/Iranian, Ottoman and Indo-Persian examples. Exact origin, maker and age are unknown. The vessel shows considerable evidence of age and use, including oxidation, verdigris, surface wear, cracks/separations and old repairs.
