Very heavy and Amazing Vintage Large 22 1/2" Ornate Bronze Candelabra Featuring A Vestal Woman
This candelabra shows a beautiful woman, a Vestal of ancient Rome. She carries above her head seven ornately scrolled “arms of light”. Six arms circle around with the seventh rising in the center. All arms are secured beautifully with vintage “screws”. At her feet you will find three lovely cherubim.
One arm is missing a screw - as seen in photos - although it is attached just fine with the remaining screw. It is solid, sturdy, and gorgeous. This is an heirloom piece.
In ancient Rome, the Vestals or Virgins were priestesses of Vesta, the goddess of the home. The Vestals enjoyed privileges in exchange for their vow of chastity and their devotion to the goddess, who helps protect Rome from the wrath of the gods.
