Vintage 1970s hand-stitched crewel embroidery sampler featuring the humorous kitchen saying “Kissin’ Don’t Last; Cookin’ Do!”
The design features a wonderfully retro antique cookstove stitched in shades of green, orange, red and yellow. Thick, textured yarn embroidery gives the stove and lettering a dimensional appearance against the natural fabric background. This is a great example of the humorous kitchen and homemaker-themed needlework that was especially popular during the 1970s.
The piece is displayed in a wood-grain frame with gold-tone inner trim and retains its hanging wire on the back. A fun piece of authentic 1970s kitchen decor with strong retro, folk art and kitsch appeal.
Condition:
Excellent vintage condition. The embroidery remains colorful and well preserved. Frame shows light wear consistent with age. The back retains its older backing and hanging wire. There is a small blue mark on front shown in last picture. Please review all photos for condition.
