Traveling Man Treasures is selling this pair of late 19th or early 20th century Italian painted spelter guards each holding pole arms with gonfalon/banners attached. Cast in a stunning Renaissance design, these were oftentimes used to flank mantle clocks or used as figural art pieces. The axe-heads at the top of the poles are removable and can be replaced by candlestick holders. The guards are in good condition with scuffs and dings appropriate for their age.
