This is the classic biography of \"Mad Jack\" Mytton — Regency-era Shropshire squire, MP for Shrewsbury, and one of the most notorious eccentrics of his time, known for reckless hunting, racing, and extravagant wagers, all recounted here by his friend and neighbor \"Nimrod.\" Illustrated throughout with hand-colored aquatint-style plates after Henry Alken and T. J. Rawlins, including scenes such as \"Light, come, light go,\" \"Heron Shooting,\" and \"How to cross a country comfortably after dinner.\" All plates are present and complete, bright and clean with strong, unfaded coloring.
Condition — please review photos carefully: the spine shows significant wear and damage — cloth loss and tearing at both the head and tail of the spine, with the front hinge beginning to separate. This is a well-read, well-loved copy rather than a pristine one. Text block shows scattered light foxing consistent with age; boards show shelf wear at corners and edges. Despite the spine condition, the book is complete: all plates present, text intact, no missing leaves. A great candidate for rebinding, or as an honest reading/plate-reference copy of a genuinely desirable sporting title.
