This is a Lionel Trains No. 1047 operating Switchman with flag. This is a Lionel postwar accessory which was cataloged for 3 years (1959-1961) but believed to be only produced for a single year 1959 making it more difficult to find because of the one year limited production. When activated the switchman moves forward and waves his flag. Also included in this sale is an O-Gauge insulated track section, with wiring, which is used for activating the Switchman. The insulated track section is a much more reliable activation method than a Lionel 145C track contactor. The standard features for the 1047 Switchman with flag are a green sheet metal base, a set of six pieces of lumber, a plastic crossing sign with black die-cast base and plastic fuel tanks. The successory is in good condition and operates very well ( see video).
