Beautiful lot of 3 antique decorative hair combs dating approximately to the early 1900s–1910s/Edwardian era.
All three are being sold AS-IS FOR REPAIR, RESTORATION, PARTS OR DISPLAY due primarily to missing or deteriorated stones. Despite their condition, these are wonderful surviving examples of early decorative hair accessories and would make an attractive restoration project or study collection.
1. BLACK CELLULOID COMB
Ornate openwork design decorated with numerous faceted black glass/paste stones in several shapes and sizes.
Condition: Missing approximately 5 stones along the upper portion. Remaining stones show age-related wear. Please examine photographs carefully.
Measurements:
• 4.75” tall
• 3.5” across top
• 1.5” across bottom
2. AMBER/GOLD CELLULOID COMB
Three-prong comb with an elegant fan-shaped openwork top set with small amber/gold-colored rhinestones.
Condition: Stones appear present; one rhinestone on the left side is noticeably dull or “dead” compared with the others. Age-related surface wear is present.
Measurements:
• 4.5” total length
• 3” maximum width across top
• Decorative top approximately 2.25” tall
3. BROWN FAUX TORTOISESHELL CELLULOID COMB
Two-prong comb with a pierced fan-shaped top featuring scrolling decoration and clear rhinestone/paste accents.
Condition: Missing one rhinestone at the upper right side. Surface wear and scratches consistent with age.
Measurements:
• 3.75” total length
• 3” across top
All three combs are antique and show wear consistent with their age.
