The 2005-06 Upper Deck USA team box set contains randomly inserted autographs of Scherzer, his first official pro autographed rookie card! This listing is for one of Scherzer\'s RARE duo BLUE autos, each one serially numbered out of ONLY 75 signed copies (this one is serially numbered 15/75!!). This duo rookie auto also contains the autograph of Wes Hodges. What makes this Scherzer auto even more rare is the BGS 9.5 GEM MINT grade...this is the only Blue auto to have received the GEM MINT grade. Three #/350 and two #/250 autos have BGS 9.5s, but this is the lowest numbered auto (#/75) to have received the near impossible BGS 9.5 GEM MINT grade!! Very few of these USA team box set inserted autographs are found in mint graded condition, let alone in GEM MINT grade, due to the way the cards were packaged. Most cards have some sort of corner chipping.Scherzer repeated as the NL Cy Young award in 2017, joining the ranks of RogerClemens, Randy Johnson, Greg Maddux, Steve Carlton, Pedro Martinez, Sandy Koufax, Tom Seaver, Jim Palmer and Clayton Kershaw as the only pitchers in MLB history with 3 Cy Young awards. Scherzer finished the 2019 season with 2692 Ks. By the time his career is over, Scherzer should be in the elite group of pitchers with 250 career wins and 3000 strikeouts, a career worthy of the Hall of Fame.
