These antique pieces are rare in mint condition.\"Tre Fuochi\" isan Italian term, literally meaning \"three fires\" or \"triple firing,\" that refers to a specific and elaborate technique used in Murano glassmaking. It involves heating a piece of glass three times: once for the initial shaping, once after applying gold leaf and enamel decorations, and a third time to fuse the decorations to the glass. This labor-intensive process results in highly prized and decorative glassware.See Google: Type \"indianqueen shop etsy\" for additional items. Here\'s a more detailed explanation: - Triple Firing:The name \"Tre Fuochi\" directly translates to \"three fires\" or \"triple firing,\" indicating the three separate firings the glass undergoes during its creation.
- Murano Glass:The technique is most famously associated with Murano glass, an Italian glassmaking tradition known for its quality and artistry.
- Gold and Enamel Decoration:Tre Fuochi glass is typically decorated with 24 karat gold leaf and enamel paints.
- Labor-Intensive Process:The application of gold and enamel, followed by the subsequent firings, requires significant skill, precision, and time, making it a labor-intensive process,
- Exclusivity:Due to the complexity and craftsmanship involved, Tre Fuochi glass is often considered highly exclusive and valuable.
·Height: 9.25 inches ·Width: 3.5 inches We have today from my private family heirlooms, this gorgeous Venetian 24K goldleaf, enameled Clear Cobalt Blue Glass; heavy layered 24k Gold leaf and HandEnameled Raised Decorations. This gorgeous Venetian piece is made in a raretechnique called TreFuochi (translated “triple-fired” also “three firings” inItalian). This technique dates back to the opulence of the eighteenth century;when many well-to-do Venetians and wealthy tourists from abroad sought outexclusive elaborate tableware for display to showcase their elite status duringtheir balls and social gatherings.
The technique of TreFuochi involves meticulous and arduous manualcraftsmanship; notwithstanding the expensive 24 karat gold overlay and handenameled decorations required to complete an item as exquisite as the one I amoffering today.
There are three stages required to complete this type of artform. First theglass artisan must hand make the tableware or vase; then secondly, intricate24k gold leaf decoration is applied by hand to the colored glasses, goblets, carafes, bowls, or vases in its various intended design and then must be placedin a special furnace to fuse the gold to the glass and then gradually cooled toprevent stress cracking; the third step is to hand paint and/or craft raiseddesigns on the piece usually in the form of florals, leaves or other elaborateraised decorations. After which it is once again placed in a furnace tocompletely fuse and bond together the three materials.
Then, once again the glass is placed into a kiln where it undergoes a finalgradual cooling overnight to bring it slowly down to room temperature to keepthe glass from stress cracking. This is a very costly complex process requiringmuch skill in glass chemistry, glass-blowing, handcrafting; not to mention thehigh cost of goods, 24K Gold, and labor required to make the pieces. (24K goldand enamel is very expensive). Therefore, very few artisans still make thesepieces because it is labor intensive and expense involved; so now-a-days… youcan expect to pay very high prices for authentic trefuochi tableware and vases. As an example, you can presently expect to pay close to $400 for two\"authentic\" Venetian trefuochi goblets due to the present day priceof gold, running the furnaces\' and tedious workmanship involved.

HISTORY OF 24K YELLOW GOLD LEAF Sophisticated 24K Gold leafing dates back to the 1500’s and was performed byapplying 24K gold leaf to the surface of the cooled glass vessel in thefollowing manner; Gold leaf was supplied with a paper backing; the artisanwould prepare a water and gum arabic paste which was placed on the host glassvessel and then the gold leaf was carefully positioned on glass and then thepre-conceived decoration was cut away utilizing an incised stylus. With thepaper backing, the thin layer of gold was easier to cut using sharp instruments; When the adhesive dried, the backing of paper was peeled away leaving theartisan’s gold design on the glass; after drying, the glass vessel was thenlowered into an annealing oven and heated to about 950 degrees Fahrenheit; thepunty was later used to retrieve the vessel from the annealing oven and it wasreturned to the glass furnace; when the vessel was re-introduced into the veryhot glory hole of the furnace -- the walls of the glass would soften and thegold now would adhere and permanently meld to the host vessel. The raisedenameling was done in a similar fashion.
