Up for sale is an incredibly substantial, vintage hand-turned solid hardwood bowl measuring exactly 17 inches in diameter. This impressive specimen remains perfectly round all the way around and weighs a hefty 4 lbs 12 oz, confirming it was crafted from a very dense, premium timber. This piece was acquired from a collector who identified the timber as authentic South African Stinkwood (Ocotea bullata). While I am not a certified wood botanist and cannot definitively guarantee the exact tropical species without lab testing, the bowl exhibits all the benchmark characteristics of premium seasoned stinkwood: a remarkable natural 'shimmer' (chatoyancy) under direct lighting, deep amber-to-dark-chocolate color variegation, and an ultra-fine grain pattern.
