Up for sale here is this complete rebuild kit for the McIntosh MAC1700 receiver. This includes replacements for all the electrolytic capacitors, film capacitors to replace the old Mylar caps, replacements for all the old Tropical Fish caps, and individual capacitors plus adapter plates to replace the can capacitors. This does NOT include any tubes, resistors, lights, or fuses.
This kit includes 48 capacitors, 20 diodes, and 3 can cap adapter plates. New capacitors are Supertech 50v axial electrolytic capacitors, one Supertech 450v axial capacitor, Wima 250v film capacitors, two Wima 50v film capacitors, Nichicon Muse bipolar caps, Nichicon and Chemi-Con radial electrolytic capacitors, and two CDE main filter caps. and two Rubycon radial electrolytic capacitors. Many of the capacitors go up in voltage, and the can cap sections are close but increase and decrease in capacitance a little bit--the 500 uf sections are replaced with 470, the 200 uf are replaced with 220, the 80 uf sections are replaced with 82 uf, and the 50 is replaced with 56 uf.The old main filter caps are gigantic and there are no easy modern replacements that size, without greatly increasing the capacitance or voltage. The kit includes a pair of CDE 4700 uf 50v snap-in caps, which you can either wire under the chassis or just gut the old capacitors and put these inside them. I will include surprisingly well-written instructions, but this is a moderately complicated rebuild, so you should know what you're doing and have a decent soldering iron.
