The vase is constructed using the renowned Sommerso glass technique, in whichlayers of differently colored glass are encased within additional layers of clear glass.The result is a strong three-dimensional effect with rich internal color and depth.
This example combines vivid purple and blue glass with clear outer glass anda highly faceted angular form, producing a particularly striking geometric appearance.
ATTRIBUTION
The vase is from the Murano, Italy glassmaking tradition.Similar faceted Sommerso forms were produced by several Murano makers during this period.It is sometimes attributed by sellers to Flavio Poli for Seguso Vetri d\'Arte,but this attribution is not confirmed for this particular example.
