Boeing 737-823, serial number 33518, line number 3291, operated by American Airlines as N840NN. Delivered new on June 4, 2010, the CFM56-powered aircraft has spent its entire career with American and currently carries fleet number 3FT. It was temporarily stored at Tulsa from March to May 2020 before returning to regular passenger service. In January 2026, N840NN received a special "100 Years" livery commemorating American Airlines' centennial, making it one of the airline's most recognizable 737-800s. The aircraft remains active in 2026, operating extensively across American's domestic and international short-haul network.
Boeing 737-800 Designed as a smaller, short-ranged alternative to the Boeing 707 and 727, the 737 was first flown on April 9th, 1967. Over its long operational carreer, the 737 has spawned numerous variants ranging in capacity from less than 100 to more than 200 seats. In fact, the 737 series is the best-selling jetliner in aviation history with more than 6,500 aircraft manufactured to date and more than 4,500 still in service with over 500 airlines around the world. Incredibly, there is a 737 taking off or landing somewhere in the world, on average, every five seconds.
