Wild Horse is a striking gemstone. It gets the name "Wild Horse" (also called Crazy Horse or Appaloosa stone) because its brown-and-white pattern looks like a pinto horse.
Miners first found the stone in the mid-1990s near Globe in the Gila Wilderness of southeastern Arizona.
Wild Horse is difficult to mine. Workers cannot drive vehicles to the mining site. They must hike the raw stone out over a mile through rough, rugged terrain.
