OEM Oil Pan w/Trap Door 1961-1962 Corvette High-Performance GM #3359937 For Sale

Original factory production assembly-line oil pan for 1961-1962 Corvettes equipped with Special High Performance (SHP) and Fuel Injection (FI) engines. The part number should be #359937. The applications would include solid lifter engines, including the 1961 270 HP dual 4-bbl carbureted 283 engine and the fuel injected versions with 275 and 315 horsepower. In 1962, this would have fit Corvettes with a 327 cubic inch engine and the 340 horsepower carbureted version or the 360 horsepower fuel injected engine. This is a desirable oil pan that features two or more side reinforcement ribs, a rear-bottom drain plug, and internal side baffles with a trap door. This configuration can be seen in the photos. It was designed with a trap door to prevent engine oil from splashing away from the oil pump pickup tube in the pan in hard acceleration, cornering, or braking during high-performance driving. I don\'t notice any flaws in this oil pan. It appears to be straight and true. The bottom (as it sits in the car) of the front baffle seems to have a dent in it, but it is still solidly mounted and could be straightened. Otherwise, there don\'t appear to be any dents, dings, or damage apparent. The side baffles are all solid and the trap door works as it should. The gasket surfaces all appear to be in good shape with little to no warping noticed. The number 216N is stamped in the pan, indicating an August 4th manufacture date, making it for an early 1961 or early 1962 Corvette.
