Samson is a fully customized, anatomically correct OOAK Ken doll created using the mtm superhero King Ocean MERMAN body and face. He has been extensively reworked from head to toe and is much more than a standard repainted or restyled Ken doll.
His face was completely refinished by hand using charcoal pencils and soft flat pastels, with carefully layered shading that works with the natural structure of the sculpt. His eyes, brows, lips, nose, jaw, temples, forehead, facial contours, and complexion were gradually built and refined, with the work sealed in stages using Mr. Super Clear (MSC).
His body also received custom hand shading and contouring to enhance the chest, abdomen, arms, legs, joints, and musculature while keeping the finish subtle and realistic rather than heavily painted.
Samson’s back of his hairstyle was flocked to create a more natural transition, and his mustache and little soul patch are also flocked rather than simply painted.
One of Samson’s most significant custom features is that he has been made anatomically correct. His anatomical details were hand-sculpted using polymer clay, carefully shaped, cured, and fine-sanded so the finished contours blend naturally with the body and have a more realistic appearance. He also features custom pubic hair detailing.
Important Care Information
Because Samson is a hand-finished collectible, he should always be handled carefully when dressing or redressing, just as with any extensively customized doll. Avoid rubbing or scraping the face, body shading, flocked areas, or other finished surfaces against clothing.
Do not submerge Samson in water. His flocked hair and mustache, charcoal/pastel detailing, body shading, and sealed custom finishes are intended for display and careful handling—not bathing or underwater play.
Minor variations and handmade characteristics are inherent to OOAK work and are part of what makes Samson unique.
