Original Mountain Lake Pastel Landscape 18x12 Sanded Paper OOAK Unframed For Sale

A striking one-of-a-kind original mountain landscape depicting a brilliant turquoise alpine lake surrounded by snow-covered peaks, evergreen trees, and rugged slopes.

The composition is built around the intense blue-green water, which forms the visual heart of the scene and immediately draws the eye into the landscape. Beyond the lake, layered mountain ranges rise into a pale blue sky, their ridges articulated with cool gray, blue, white, and lavender tones suggesting snow, rock, and atmospheric distance.

Tall conifers frame the foreground and middle distance, creating depth and leading the eye toward the mountains beyond. The darker greens and near-black accents of the trees provide a strong counterpoint to the luminous turquoise water and pale snowy peaks.

The artist uses energetic dry-media strokes rather than smooth photographic blending. Directional marks across the mountains, water, trees, and snow give the piece movement and texture while preserving the direct character of an original hand-worked landscape.

The surface appears to be a sanded or abrasive specialty paper marked “400” on the reverse, likely referring to approximately 400-grit texture. This type of toothy surface is particularly well suited to pastel because it holds multiple layers of pigment. The exact manufacturer cannot be confirmed from the available photographs.

The medium appears most consistent with soft pastel and/or pastel pencil, possibly with charcoal or other dry-media accents. It does not appear to be an oil or acrylic painting.

At approximately 18\" × 12\", this is a substantial landscape work that would display beautifully with a wide neutral mat and a simple wood, black, bronze, or antique-brass frame.

The specialty paper shows slight waviness/curling and minor corner or edge irregularity consistent with an unframed work on paper.
