Lena Palenko – Untitled (Mountain Valley Landscape), 2026
Offered is an original oil painting on textured paper by Russian artist Lena Palenko, dated 2026 and identified by the artist on the reverse as “Lena Palenko, Oil on paper, 20 × 30 cm, 2026.”
The painting depicts a tranquil mountain valley beneath a softly clouded blue sky. A dramatic range of rocky cliffs stretches across the background, its rugged contours articulated through layered passages of lavender, muted purple, slate blue, and subtle earthy tones. Below, an expansive green valley opens toward a winding stream or watercourse, suggested through loose horizontal brushstrokes and delicate variations in color.
The composition is distinguished by its restrained palette and expressive handling of paint. Cool blues and purples in the mountains contrast with the gentle yellow-greens of the valley, creating a harmonious landscape that feels both expansive and serene. Broad, visible brushstrokes lend movement to the terrain, while the textured paper contributes additional visual interest to the painted surface.
Rather than pursuing photographic realism, Palenko captures the essential character of the landscape through impressionistic simplified forms, tonal variation, and an atmospheric interplay of color. The result is a contemporary interpretation of the mountain landscape, with a quiet, contemplative quality well suited to a variety of spaces.
The painting measures approximately 7.875 × 11.75 inches, including the narrow white border, and is offered unframed. The artist's initials and date appear in the lower-right corner on the front, with the full artist and medium information handwritten on the reverse.

Lukyanov and received formal training in painting at the Rostov Art School from 2001 to 2006. She subsequently graduated from the Moscow State Academic Art Institute in 2013. Palenko has exhibited at EURASIUM Gallery in Moscow and received a jury award at the All-Russian Festival of Arts in July 2021, winning first place in the classical landscape painting category. Her participation in group and virtual exhibitions is also documented by Russian art organizations. Her work explores the painterly possibilities of landscape, making her background in classical painting particularly relevant to her depictions of natural scenery.
This 2026 landscape demonstrates an interest in expressive color, simplified natural forms, and the atmospheric qualities of the mountain environment. Its loose, painterly handling and subdued palette give the composition a contemporary sensibility while retaining the enduring appeal of traditional landscape painting.
