A charming and diminutive pair of 16thC Tudor Henry VIII period Carved Oak Romayne Portrait Panels depicting characterful Male and Female profiles each set within a Roundel, one terminated with a subtle Sprig of Foliage the other a small Urn also issuing Foliage…These pieces are very much fresh to the market having come from a family home in Gloucestershire due to down sizing recently, the colour is great and they have been professionally set within custom Frames which compliments them very well indeed, they would date to Circa 1540…Great primitive pieces, these just have abit more character than many of the standard Romayne Panels we typically see and as mentioned the colour I great!
Each piece measures approximately 22cm in height - 19cm in width Framed…Each piece shows a primitive age related surface, the Male Panel shows remnants of old worm and a small area of wear below his chin and to the reverse, each panel has been professionally treated and preserved probably at the time of Framing all of which has been done very competently as shown.
