Authentic PILOT Elite pocket fountain pen with an 18K gold MANIFOLD nib, made in Japan in 1969.
DETAILS- Model: PILOT Elite (short \"pocket\" type; posts to full length for writing)- Nib imprint: 18K / PILOT / MANIFOLD / JAPAN, date code H169 (Hiratsuka factory, 1969)- The Manifold is a firm nib originally made for writing through carbon-copy forms; very little flex and a consistent line- Body: black with gold trim- Length: approx. 12 cm capped- Filling: cartridge/converter type. No converter or cartridge included.
CONDITIONUsed, vintage (over 55 years old). Lightly cleaned and dip-tested: writes smoothly (see the writing sample photo).- Personalized: a previous owner\'s name is faintly hand-engraved in Japanese characters near the center band (photo 7). It is shallow and only visible at certain angles.- Two small dents on the cap: one ding with a slight dent near the lip band (photo 16), and one tiny dent below the clip (photo 9). Both are surface marks, not cracks. No cracks found on the cap lip or barrel.- Light signs of normal use (fine scuffs/marks) - see photos.- Nib tines are aligned; no bends.- Cap closes securely and posts firmly on the barrel end.The writing sample shows the \"Iroha\", a classic Japanese poem that uses every kana character exactly once - the Japanese equivalent of a pangram.
