Up for sale is a beautiful matching pair of antique Victorian glass target balls, dating from the late 19th century, circa 1880.
A second set has recently turned up in the attic. They originally belonged to my great-grandfather and have been in the family for generations.
These target balls were used before modern clay pigeons for trap shooting. They are made from deep cobalt-blue glass with a classic diamond-patterned surface, designed to prevent pellets from glancing off.
Both are authentic mold-blown glass with raw, sheared mouths. They are most likely of German or British origin.
Both balls are in excellent antique condition. The only cracks are the natural, age-related cracks around the raw openings of the two balls, caused by the original manufacturing process. There are no other cracks, hairlines, or major damage.
Worldwide tracked shipping. They will be packed extremely carefully with plenty of protective wrapping in a sturdy box.
