Pair Antique Victorian Wood Corbels Renaissance Revival Carved Bracket Salvage
Up for sale is a stunning, genuine asymmetrical pair of late 19th-century Victorian and Renaissance Revival architectural corbel brackets. Originally crafted as flanking supportive elements for a grand fireplace mantelpiece, sideboard mirror gallery, or book cabinet crown, these pieces feature a subtle inward tilt designed to dramatically frame a central focal point. Because they are authentic period workshop pieces rather than modern factory duplicates, the hand-carved floral, rosette, and cascading acanthus leaf details display beautiful, subtle variations from left to right.
True to authentic structural cabinetry design of the era, the backs of these pieces were engineered differently for specific installation requirements. The first piece features a horizontal sliding dovetail channel meant to lock over a support cleat. The second piece features a hand-scooped concave recess designed to clear structural corner posts or framework joints.
The upper section displays carved floral clusters with prominent sunflower-like blooms and foliage, tapering down into heavily carved, scroll-like drapery or acanthus leaf motifs.
Approximate Measurements:
