Vintage color linen postcard featuring the historic Letitia Street House, also known as the William Penn Mansion, in Fairmount Park, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The front shows the red-brick colonial house with white shutters, a steep roof and surrounding trees. An illustrated portrait of William Penn appears in the upper-left corner.
The reverse provides an interesting history of the house. Originally believed to have been built and occupied by William Penn on land owned by his daughter Letitia, it was later determined to have been constructed shortly after 1703. The postcard also notes that the Philadelphia Museum restored the house in 1932.
