- Mitchell and Ness 1972 Mike Schmidt Phillies road Rookie jersey- Extremely SCARCE! * I’ve only seen a handful plus of the 1972 jerseys on here the last 9 years. - 3 XL - Chenille P and numbers * Used during this era from 1950 to the early 1970’s. A thick machine run stitched high quality numbers and logo. Much higher quality then just cutouts that are tackle twilled together. 1972 is the first year the Phillies wore polyester-knit uniforms. They and all other MLB teams wore wool flannel uniforms in previous years/decades since the beginning of baseball in the 19th century. - There is a thin white line that is not a cut, scratch or a snag; it’s a blue/white mixed thread of polyester.
