Up for sale here is this complete rebuild kit for the Pioneer Spec 4 (or M-75) amplifier. This includes all the parts you need to rebuild a Pioneer Spec 4 or M-75 amplifier, and includes the correct size replacement main filter capacitors. This does not include new lights, fuses, or any resistors. This also does not include the driver or output transistors. If you need to replace the output transistors, the correct replacements are the MJ21195G/MJ21196G, available here.Please don't buy any of the Chinese output transistors on --those are counterfeit and will blow up.
This kit includes replacements for all the electrolytic and tantalum capacitors in the amp, including the four main filter capacitors, which are replaced with 22000 uf 100v Chemi-Con caps, which were Made in USA in mid-2022. The new caps are the same diameter as the old ones so they will fit the old clamps perfectly.The kit also includes replacements for a lot of the transistors on all the boards, except there are only replacements for Q1, Q2, Q3, and Q12 on the driver boards--the others don't generally need replacing.The 2SA798s on the amp boards don't always NEED to be replaced, but it's a good idea for longevity. The kit includes a pair of tiny adapter boards and tiny SMD dual transistors to replace them.You will need to assemble these, so you'll need either a very fine-point soldering iron tip and very thin solder, or you'll need SMD-working equipment. Or you can skip that step.
There are two new Omron relays included for the amp boards. They are slightly different than the originals but there are extra holes in the boards so they will mount fine.You will also receive detailed instructions to help this rebuild go more smoothly.
These are all high-quality brand new genuine parts. These are the same parts I use when I rebuild Pioneer equipment. I have rebuild quite a few of the big Pioneers over the last few years. The Spec 4 is one of Pioneer's best amplifiers, and it deserves a high-quality rebuild. Capacitors are Nichicon PW, Nichicon KL, Panasonic film, Wima film, andChemi-Con for the main filters. Transistors are Fairchild/Onsemi and Toshiba.
This kit is intended to rebuild a working Pioneer Spec 4 or M-75 amplifier. If your amplifier is not working, this might fix it, but these often blow up in exciting ways, and many Spec 4s have been worked on in the past and may have incorrect parts or damaged boards, so if you do not have a lot of experience with vintage gear I would not recommend starting with this one. You should know what you're doing and have a good soldering iron, a desoldering gun such as a Hakko FR-301, and a dim-bulb tester with 100W or 150W incandescent bulb.No generic pictures here--I have clear pictures of the actual parts you will receive.
