Portrait of Charles I of Anjou. Born 21 March 1227 in Paris, France. Died 7 January 1285 in Foggia, Italy. Steel engraving, and Stipple engraving by Leclerc (fl. 19thC), after Claude Jacquand (1803-1878), c. 1835. Reasonable condition. Paper a bit browned and a bit soiled. With some minor spotting/small staining. The left margin a bit short. Verso: blank. Note: in a very nice contemporary handcolouring. With the original piece of tissue paper and a printed biography on 10 pages (=in a similar condition as the print). Note: dimensions reflect the entire leaf. Dimensions: 263 x 178 mm. Charles I of Anjou was King, Count of Anjou, Count of Maine, King of Sicily, King of Jerusalem, Founder of the second House of Anjou, Count of Provence, Count of Forcalquier, Prince of Achaea, and King of Albania.
