Princeton University Bicentennial Bronze Medal – 1746–1946 – John R. Sinnock
An impressive original bronze medal issued in 1946 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Princeton University, founded in 1746 as the College of New Jersey.
This substantial 3-inch medal was designed by noted American sculptor and engraver John R. Sinnock, who would become Chief Engraver of the United States Mint and is best known today as the designer of the Roosevelt dime and Franklin half dollar.
The obverse features a detailed view of historic Nassau Hall, surrounded by ivy, with the inscription:

The reverse displays the seal of Princeton University, surrounded by an ivy wreath and the University's Latin motto and inscription.
The medal was struck in bronze by the celebrated Medallic Art Company, one of America's foremost producers of fine art and commemorative medals.
Princeton's Bicentennial was a major yearlong celebration held in 1946–47 following the end of World War II. Distinguished scholars, public figures and representatives of institutions from around the world participated in the ceremonies.
According to Princeton's archival history of the Bicentennial, the first Bicentennial Medal was presented to the Archbishop of Canterbury in September 1946, and medals were subsequently presented to official guests and delegates attending the University's Bicentennial ceremonies.
