Classic Quad 405 Audiophile Power Amplifier
Restored and upgraded w/ modern parts. Extremely clean from non-smoking home.
This is a fine unit that I purchased from member victor6541 some time ago. It's been completely reliable, cool-running, and sounds bigger than it's rated output power. Never harsh sounding, it also doesn't sound excessively "warm". It has the organic, natural sound that these Quads are famous for, without any of the worries about deteriorated, ageing components.I've pleasurably used it with various contemporary and older speakers of reasonable sensitivity. I'm sure that it would sound especially lovely with Ls3/5a type speakers, speakers that have the classic British sound, or others that are designed for the natural reproduction of music.
It has a few original small areas of chipped paint, but no dents or significant scratches. None are as obvious in real life as they appear in the photos, which give a good representation of just how fine this amp's condition actually is.
