RARE 1941 Chrysler Sales Division Promotional Souvenir Trinket Box Plastic.
An unusual piece of early Chrysler automotive memorabilia dating to 1941. This round divided trinket or souvenir box was produced from marbled decorative plastic and was distributed by the Chrysler Sales Division.
What makes this piece especially interesting is the original inscription inside the lid:
“This souvenir is made of the same Plastic that is used on the beautiful instrument panel of the 1941 Chrysler. It was produced in our own Plastic Department expressly for you.”
Below the inscription is “CHRYSLER SALES DIVISION.”
The box features an attractive ivory/cream marbled plastic with green and blue-green veining, a removable domed lid, and a divided interior with four compartments.
Research has located another example of this Chrysler promotional box in a reddish/brown marbled color, documented by a collector approximately 15 years ago; however, I have not located another example in this particular cream/green coloration currently for sale. This may represent one of the different plastics/colors Chrysler was using for its 1941 automobile interiors.

A particularly interesting collectible because the souvenir itself states that it was manufactured from the same type of plastic used for the instrument panel of the 1941 Chrysler and produced by Chrysler’s own Plastic Department.
Condition: Vintage condition with expected age-related wear, including surface scratches, discoloration/patina and wear/loss to portions of the gold decoration and lettering. Please review all photographs carefully, as they are an important part of the description.
A very unusual piece for a collector of prewar Chrysler, Mopar, automotive advertising, dealership memorabilia, early plastics, or 1940s automobilia.
