This rare antique transferware platter from William Ridgway of Staffordshire, United Kingdom is a stunning piece of original ceramic art from the early 19th century. It is the Flosculous pattern. The maker categorized it as brown but it comes across in real life as mulberry. It is a beautiful piece but does have some flaws. There are two places where it appears to have been scraped (see photos). There is a hairline crack that is more visible from the back than the front (see photos). Crazing and staining are present (see photos).
A beautiful and very hard to find early pattern in shades of brownish purple: flowers, stems and stamens extend from a scroll design in the center to the scalloped edges. The backstamp is an urn and anchor. Circa 1834-1854
