Description
A remarkably scarce contemporary account of the sinking of the German battleship Tirpitz, written by Commander Anthony Kimmins, R.N., and apparently issued soon after the end of the Second World War.
The Tirpitz, sister ship of the Bismarck, was finally destroyed on 12 November 1944 when RAF Lancaster bombers attacked with 12,000-pound Tallboy bombs. Two direct hits and a near miss caused the battleship to capsize near Tromsø, with the loss of hundreds of men.
This brief pamphlet is proving to be a genuine bibliographical mystery. No record has been located in WorldCat or COPAC, and neither its place of publication nor exact date is stated. Its survival in this form suggests a privately or locally printed issue produced in very limited numbers.
