RARE Vintage Harper KJV New Testament & Psalms Pocket Bible Leather TP49X Gilded
This Bible is a rare vintage pocket Bible featuring the King James Version of the New Testament and Psalms, published by Harper & Brothers in the United States in 1949. The Bible is bound in very nice leather with gilded edges, making it a special collectible for those interested. With its miniature size and historical significance, this pocket Bible would make a unique addition to any collection of antique and rare books. In every dimension it is smaller than a pocket Gideon bible. It has India paper and the leather is hand grained Morocco and leather lined. It is Navy Blue in color. The ribbon is dark violet but where exposed it has turned to a reddish-brown color. The page height is a little under 4 inches.
The leather shows a bit of wear, gilt page edges still nice, ribbon still nice, text is clear of markings, the front section of blank pages has writing on each page, kind of a diary of the travels and visits of someone through 1940s to 1960s. There is a small group of pages that have folded corners. Binding still excellent. Good condition. A very similar bible just sold on for $80.
Media mail, shipped in recycled cardboard wrap and inserted into bubble wrap envelope, returns accepted.
