Here's the replacement gears you need to get your Bachmann 44 or 70 Ton locomotive back on track. There are four gears in the package, usually all four of the original gears are cracked now, or will crack soon. These gears replace the cracked ones found in the 1st and 2nd generation Bachmann HO models. 3rd generation models use a different system. As far as I know, other manufacturers (Rapido, etc) models are not compatible with these gears.
The set of four gears are ready for installation and do not require any modifications. These gears are SLA produced, with UV curing. Take care when installing so as not to damage the teeth or the axle mounting area. Be sure to clean the axle portion that inserts into the gear to ensure a good fit. Although rare, your axle (nominally 1.5mm) may not have the correct press fit when inserted in the new gear. If so, mark the wheel and gear to assist during reassembly. You can apply a small dot of superglue into the gear/wheel hole prior to inserting the wheel, this ensures that the glue does not contact the truck frame. Be sure to measure the wheel to wheel distance with a gauge to ensure proper installation.
