Rare 1845 Latter-Day Saints’ Millennial Star Vol VI Wilford Woodruff LDS:
$800.00

Early Mormon history and religious periodical collecting — an original 1845 edition of The Latter-Day Saints’ Millennial Star, Volume VI, published in Liverpool by Wilford Woodruff and Thomas Ward. The original title page is dated MDCCCXLV (1845).

This scarce bound volume preserves an important contemporary record of the early Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including Church teachings, correspondence, missionary activity, conference proceedings, contemporary news and accounts of the developing Latter-day Saint movement. The volume retains its title page, preface and detailed index. The index references subjects including Church conferences, Mormonism, emigration, the Society Islands, the Eastern States, the proclamation and address of Brigham Young, and numerous letters and reports.

Bound in period full leather with decorative blind-stamped borders, raised spine bands and the name “S. Hobson” stamped on the front board. An early ownership inscription inside the front cover reads “The Property of Mr. Stephen Moore, Newlands Pl., Ripon St., Bradford,” with additional older writing and markings.

This approximately 180-year-old volume is offered in fragile, heavily worn condition. The leather boards show extensive rubbing, scratches, abrasions, edge wear and exposed corners. There are losses at the spine ends and significant cracking and separation along the exterior hinges. The boards remain attached but should be handled carefully. The title leaf is loose/partially detached and has staining, chipping and substantial deterioration along its lower edge. The endpapers show heavier staining and wear. Interior pages have age toning, scattered foxing and staining, occasional edge wear and other signs of long-term use. The principal printed text remains generally clear and readable.

Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the condition description. This is an authentic early LDS historical volume worthy of preservation, research or professional conservation.
