Up for sale is a rare original 1926 theater herald (fold-out brochure/program) for Warner Bros.’ groundbreaking silent film Don Juan, starring John Barrymore as the legendary lover, presented by Warner Bros. with Vitaphone synchronization (the first feature-length film with a full synchronized musical score and sound effects – a milestone in cinema history leading directly to “talkies”).
This authentic promotional piece was issued for showings at McVickers Theatre in Chicago (twice daily including Sunday, $1.25–$1.65 prices listed). It features dramatic orange/red and black artwork, including a large oval portrait of a romantic scene, multiple film stills on the interior, and bold text proclaiming John Barrymore as “Greatest of Lovers” in “Don Juan” with John Barrymore.
Printed in the U.S.A., this 4-panel fold-out measures approximately 9” x 6” (folded). A true piece of early Hollywood ephemera from the dawn of sound vintage condition for a nearly 100-year-old paper item.
