Offering a very rare and truly gorgeous old Noritake cake serving set from 1918. The set includes the serving plate and 4 dessert plates. This set is really beautiful and the photos just do not do it justice. The pattern features a blue and white floral edge. The center depicts a scene with flowers (carnations?) on the bottom and butterflies fluttering around on the top. The flowers and butterfly are hand-painted and gilt. The scene is painted on a light, pastel orange background with a glossy finish. The serving plate also has a pair of goat-head handles painted in gold. Such an interesting set!
Set is in very good condition considering their age. No chips, cracks, crazing or major scratches. Much of the paint on the red butterfly on the serving plate has rubbed off. There are a couple other places where the paint has rubbed off. Please refer to photos and video for further.
Dimensions: Serving plate is approximately 10\"x9.5\" and 1.25\" tall, the four dessert plates are approximately 6\" diameter.
Weight: Serving plate weighs approximately 1lb 3oz, dessert plates weigh 5.2oz each. Full set weighs 2lb 8.2oz
I also have one fifth dessert plate that has crack on the bottom that is not visible from the top. I can let this plate go at a discount if anyone is interested in a fifth plate. Please message me if interested.
