A remarkable very fine condition peruvian ritual Paccha bowl. Probably Incan culture. This was used to infuse a fermented corn liquid (ancient beer) into the Earth to insure a good planting season. Literally the most important fuction of tribal government to sustain the population. The outer circumference of the bowl shows amazing geometric painted panels around the entire side panels of the bowl. The entire bowl is covered in a prefired slip to retain the painting when it was hardened in the kiln. The bowl has concentric inner walls that represent the cosmos of the Inka and when the liquid was poured into the bowl it flowed out through holes in the walls into the 3 spouts shown on the front of the bowl. Quite a rare item in fantastic condition.
